Backup Exec 9.1 fails to install with MSDE error

I get an error when trying to install Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows:

9-23-2005,16:48:29 : ERROR: Failed to install MSDE 2000 BKUPEXEC instance.
09-23-2005,16:48:29 : Please review C:\WINDOWS\MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log for more details.
09-23-2005,16:48:29 : Failed to install third party products.

As far as I can determine, this is the error in the MSDE log, which I do not understand.

Any ideas?

Hello,

Folow the steps in the technote given below and retry the install:

Installation of Backup Exec 9.x rolls back and MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log reports the following error: "InstallSQLAgentSecurity failed (SERVERNAME,LocalSystem,87)."

Revert with details if the issue persists. Do update in either case.

Note: Backup exec install cases are also treated at the Support site.
