Backup Exec 9.1 for Netware w/ Quantum Ultrium 3 Drive

DonnaT

We have Netware 6.5 running on an IBM E-Server X225.  Under the NetWare Server console I can see that both the SCSI 29160 card and the Ultrium 3 are recognized by NetWare, as it shows them both as registered and the appropriate SCSI drivers load when the server boots up.

When we launch BackupExec 9.1, it does not see the new tape drive.  We still have the old Sony Cassette Tap drive installed, and it sees it -- backups run fine; we just cannot see the Ultrium 3.  We've checked SCSI IDs, cables, etc.

We did try going to BE 9.2, but it didn't see the drive still, so we went back to 9.1.  Does BE see the Ultirum 3 drive as a Library, and not a drive?  Is it possible we need a different BE support pack?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Donna

First of all, does your new drive appear on the HCL?

What build of 9.1 are you using (check in \bkupexec\version.doc for details)?

These steps may help:

1. BESTOP
2. Rename \bkupexec\mm to mm.old
3. BESTART
