Backup Exec Job Engine will not start (Event ID 7000)

Jonathan_Cousin
Not applicable
After installing BEX9.1 on an isolated server to perform a backup, everything starts except the Job Engine.

Looking at the event logs, all I see is a Error 1053, Event ID 7000 saying the service didn't start in a timely manner.

Further investigation of the event logs shows an additional entry for event id 7009 - Timeout 30000 milliseconds waiting for Backup Exec Job Engine service...

Any clues on where to start?

Hello,

Please try the following steps:
1. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the directory where Backup Exec is installed. The default path is \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT.
2. Right click the VERITAS directory and select Properties.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Set NTFS security on the VERITAS directory to Everyone with Full Control

Verify the results.

- Also are all the services running?
- Is any service crashing during backups?
