I am in the process planning for a migration to Backup Exec 2014. Current environment has Backup Exec 2010 running on Windows 2003. Going to move to Backup Exec 2014 running on Windows 2008 with a new tape library and HP MSA. Can anyone provide me with information on how I can best accomplish this migration?

Hi,
Before you start make sure you are running Backup Exec 2010 R3 sp4 fully patched with the updated RAWs pushed out to remote servers.
If you are running Windows Server 2003 R2 I recommend upgrading to Backup Exec 2014 first.
Prior to running the upgrade, stop the BE services and the SQL service for BKUPEXEC, and make a copy of the Data and Catalogs folder
Next follow this technote to get Backup Exec 2014 installed and running on the Windows 2008 server. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH129826

If you are not on Window 2003 R2, then you need to upgrade to R2 before you upgrade to BE 2014.
Before you upgrade to BE 2014, make sure you have a new set of licence keys for BE 2014. Your existing licence keys will not work. The upgrade is free if you are on a current maintenance contract and you can get your new licence keys from the Symantec Licencing department.
Also, before you upgrade to BE 2014, make a copy of the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory. This is in case you need to revert.
Do check the SCL and HCL to ensure that your software and hardware are supported before upgrading to BE 2014.
