Backup Exec Remote Agent licences (Windows)

Quick question, and probably pretty dumb, but I'll carry on.

With regards to the remote licences, we need to backup 5 servers to a library on the media server. Nothing special, just files, no SQL / Exchange agents needed.

Will we need to purchase 4 additional remote agent licences, as I know 1 licences comes with the Backup Exec software, or is it a case of 1 remote agent licence installed on the media server, and you can backup as many other servers as needs be?

You need to have a license that support 5 remote servers. Remote agent doesn't come free with BE.

The licensing can give you 1 license bundled for 5 remote server. So that you have to install 1 license on the BE but you can backup 5 remote servers

Also forgot to tell that you have to install the remote agent on the remote severs that needs to be backed up

You saids that you need to backup 5 Servers to the library. Does this mean 1 Backup Exec server + 4 Remote serves..??

If this is the case the you will have to buy 4 Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) License keys.

And is there are 5 Remote servers then you will require 5 Remote Agent License keys.

You do not require any RAWS license for Backup Exec server as it is already included in the Backup Exec base license key but you will require them to backup your remote machines.

As Sazz said you may receive 1 License key bundled for 5 RAWS or you may receive 5 RAWS seperate keys. However they may be you will have to install all the Licenses on the Backup Exec Server only.

Only Remote Agent (not the license key) needs to be installed on the remote machines.
