We run full backups M-F and it normally takes about 4 hours to complete each night. No problems for almost two years. Now the backup starts and runs for days showing 0 bytes. Every now and then it will successfuly complete the backup. I'm not getting any errors or alerts. If I cancel the running job it just shows "cancel pending" and does not stop. I have to stop the services or reboot server.
Has anyone had this issue before?

This usually happens if Backup Exec is waiting for a response to a Tape status alert (tape full, insert a new tape...etc).
If you go under Job Monitor, check the status of the job to see if there's a message. Otherwise, check in the Alerts tab for any pending alerts.
If you're still not seeing any errors, check the Windows Event Log viewer, you may get more information there.

Does the backup run when targeted to a backup-to-disk folder?
