Backup Exec Upgrade from Windows NT to Server 2003

Jim_Bauer

I am running an old version Arcada Backup Exec for Windows NT and will be upgrading our server to Server 2003. My question is, what version of symantec Backup Exec should I upgrade to and will it do a restore from the tape backups created by my old version of Backup Exec?

Thanks for any helps anyone can provide.

Assuming that Arcada uses/used MTF (Microsoft Tape Format), any version fo BackupExec should be able to read the tapes

See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278287.htm for the v10 related TechNote (the only version currently sold by Veritas/Symantec

Hello,
Since the older installation used Backup exec for backups, the format used must be either mtf or bkf, these files can be inventoried, cataloged and restored from a newer version of backup exec.
