Backup Exec and Windows RAS.

Hi all,
I'm evaluating Backup Exec 11d. I installed the product on a Windows 2000 server, which also serves as RAS server. After that my server stopped dialing back!!! I stopped Backup Exec 11d services (turned them to manual at startup) but the problem persists.
Has anyone faced the problem, or is it just a coincidence? I'm about to remove the Backup Exec and check again. Mayby you can save the trouble.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Leonidas,

Please try the following techntoe:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/275924.htm

However, the latest drivers will be found at the following link under the Downloads section:
http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/support/knowledge_base.jsp?pid=15047

The technote I mentioned above might not resolve since I'm not sure what Event Viewer id's you're running into (please send those if you get a chance).
If this doesn't resolve it, then I would take the course of action you had planned. Uninstall Backup Exec, and get RAS up and running again. What service pack for Windows 2000 are you running as well...the minimum requirement for Backup Exec is 4.
Once you've uninstalled BEWS, and gotten RAS back up and running, then stop all 3rd party services including RAS, anti-virus, DFS, anti-virus (everything non-essential for the system to run), and then install Backup Exec. Reboot the server, and see if everything works.

Please let us know if this helps to resolve your issue, and if not, let us know what errors you're running into now.

Thanks.
