Backup and Backnet

My first post here and my first experience with veritas.

I would like to create a backnet (I have 9 servers two are on a totally different network 3 are on a subdomain from our main domain). All servers have two nic cards and I have setup a separate address for each.

I would like to use veritas to connect to this backnet for the backup jobs...any idea on how I would go about doing this?

Thanks in advance...

Also, if there is a more preferred way, please reply with that too!

No one has any information?

In the job description, you should see an option for "Use specified network". Select that and give it the info for your backup network.

Hi,

As you have described the environment,we would recommend you to install Backup Exec Remote Agent on all the servers in order to take backup and restore. Either you can push install the remote agent from the media server (from the server where you have installed BAckup Exec Software) or locally install it.

For more information on backing up the servers across the domain and Network-Firewall,please refer to the Administrators's Handbook :

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.0 for Windows Servers Administrator's Guide (English)
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/258734.htm

page number 232 onward !

Additional Information :

If you are not at the latest build of Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows Servers
revision 4691, we would suggest you download and install it using the
following technotes:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/262414.htm

# BEWS 9.1 is a free downloadable upgrade inclusive of previously installed
agents and options from Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers agents and
options.

# Update all agents/options on all remote systems.

Thank you.

Well, after readling the link you provided for the book, looks like I will be doing a total new install of backup exec and upgrading it before it goes into service.
