Alternative to Backup Exec

Hi,

Veritas told me, that i have to look for another Backup-Software.

Who can advise a good Backup-Software without MSDE ?

All recommends are welcome.

I have no recommendations... but I do wonder why you would want to go without MSDE? Curious as to what conflict it may cause...

I use CA Arcserve at work. It runs on MS SQL. I use BE 10 at home. Why did they say change?Message was edited by:

I concur. Why not MDSE? It's free, it works and you won't find many alternatives unless you want to pay for SQL Server. If you find some product using a proprietary db I think you're looking for even greater problems.

Consider Microsoft's backup. It will backup exchange (you may not be happy with a mailbox level restore). I'm not thrilled with Veritas, but I've used products that were worse.

Microsoft's backup? Do you mean NTBackup? That was written by Veritas too, licensed by Microsoft.

Yes, stripped down to it's underwear. It has two positive aspects: 1) it works (mostly), 2) price (if you have the OS you have the product). If you want to spend a lot of time with it you can get catalogs and reports.
