Backup exec 10.0 will not uninstall

I tried to upgrade backup exec 9.x to 10.0 and the install failed. So I tried to uninstall veritas withing add/remove programs but veritas will not uninstall. no errors no nothing.

Could be / sounds like icky MS problem, try a restart, stopping ALL BExec services & dependencies then doing the add/remove..

Also... interested why the Upgrade failed, have had and heard nothing but good re: the up route from 9.x ..

In order to troubleshoot the issue, kindly refer the following


Run MSI Cleanup utility
Download the MSI Installer Cleanup utility and install on the system in question. It can be obtained from following URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5fed58f0-8b41-4928-8939-328452843bce&DisplayLang=en
After the application is installed, run it from Start/Programs/Windows Install Clean Up


Reboot the computer and then try uninstalling Backup Exec software.
