Hi,

i have bought a second Tape for a Dell Power Vault RD 1000 ext. Usb. I Update the Bacup Exec 2010 with Live Update. Done. After this i Start a Complete Backup Order to the Tape. Done without Errors. After this. i think only need Change the Tape from the drive. So i get out the old Tape, put in the new Tape. But i Can do Backup on this new Tape. It Says me:

Error: 0xe000810c  Drive not exists

Error: Backup-Devecie Error

In Windows Explorer i can see the Drive (h:\) , and i can write "manually" something on it, i can see that the tape has 950 Gb free ...

Must i do anything concretly before i can use a new Tape ? Perhaps format or similar for prepare the Tape to save new Backups?

Thanks, and sorry my bad English

Regards

Peter

Is the tape drive reported offline in BE?

If not, have you done any SCAN on tape drive after inserting the new tape?

Do scan, and once the tape information is updated with BE run the backup job.

Isn't the Dell PowerVault RD1000 "special" as far as Backup Exec is concerned?

Have you got the RD1000 configured in Backup Exec with a "Removable Backup-to-disk" folder on it? This is for devices such as the RD1000 where the drive remains attached to the server, but it has cartridges which are interchangeable.
