Backup job stuck at "queued"

I have a client running Backup Exec 10.1 Rev. 5629 with no installed updates on Windows 2000 Server. The tape drive is an external HP DAT72X6 tape changer with firmware rev. B409 which I believe is the latest. The changer is a replacement from HP installed in June.
Over the past couple of weeks, it has failed sporadically with the job getting stuck at "queued". I can then cancel the job, run an inventory and the backup will work again for a day or two. Last night the backup job failed and when I checked it, the drive was listed as offline. I put it back online and then it worked again. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Dan,

Please install the latest device drivers for the deivce and then verify the backup:

Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10d (10.1.5629) - Device Driver Installer (20060815) - Includes Tape Driver Release (21) and Robotic Library Release (65) (Intel Only)
