Backup-to-Disk folders (compression)

How do I set compression when using Backup-to-Disk? I ran a test job and the compression was 1:1...which does not help me. I need to save space if I can.

Hi,

In backup job property under General tab select Software under Compression type. Software compression is the only compression method available for Backup-to-Disk (B2D) jobs due to the obvious lack of media hardware

So what kind of compression can I expect using Software compression?

Depends on what kind of data you are backing up. It will be very close to what you would have gotten with Hardware Compression.

You can check the job logs, and at the end of each step, you will see the compression achieved for that step
