Using a Sony AIT 2 Turbo SCSI drive connected to a dedicated SCSI card with Backup Exec 12.5. Backups start ok, but fail when the byte count reaches about 90Gb. Tried using the latest Symantec and Sony drivers and it is the same with both drivers. Drive has the latest firmware from Sony, and using the Sony Tape Tool can easily do a test backup with compression of 100Gb+ (test backup works to the end of tape). Have a similar setup elsewhere with the same drive but backupexec 11 and this can backup 160-170Gb on a single tape with no problems.

No error message shown... just that the tape is full and to insert the next media. Tested it with the native NT backup and still the same. Had a look at the tape properties and once the backup has completed it shows the compression ratio of 1.1:1. Got the same drive installed in three different servers at different sites and they all show the smae compression ratio. All servers are backing up similair sorts of data but would of thought that the compression ratio would be higher than this. Checked on the Sony web site and there is no newer firmware for this drive.
