Ok so the more important issue first.
We have two HP storage works devices (HP1 and HP2) for tape drives with two sets of tape pools (Aug14 and Jan13).
Pool 1 has two tape drives that are rotated on a daily cycle and are written on HP2, this is the AUG14 pair.
Pool 2 has 10 tapes to do incremental backups and a full weekly backup on a friday, on a two week cycle, so Monday 1 to Friday 2. These are written using HP1.
The problem is with the Fridays Full backup. The weekly incrementals (Monday - Thursday) work fine, but for some reason the Full weekly back keeps getting cancelled with the error:
v-79-57344-33039 - Error - Mount Failed.
User Canceled a Physical Volume Library Operation
And when I go to swap the tapes over I notice the tape has been ejected (auto eject is disabled). And it seems the job runs for just over 2 hours and then cancels.
The second issue is that although both backups 'work' and data is backed up. They keep giving a 'failed' status with the error: V-79-57344-33928.
Any ideas on this would be very helpful =)

Check your append and overwrite settings for the job. The drive may be looking for overwritable or appendable media
For the second issue check here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH61294
