BackupExec TL2000 slot recognition

I am using BackupExec 11d on a WIndows 2003 R2 server having a Dell TL2000 tape library connected (The TL2000 is identical to IBM's TS3100). Backup exec recognizes 22 slots but not slot 23 (I/O slot) and slot 24 (cleaning cartidge). What do I have to do that the missing slots are recognized (for exporting backup media and for configuring cleaning tasks)? Hope that someone can help.

Hi

Please check the link

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH142463

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH69309

Edit

  • Open Robotic library web console
  • Expand "configure library" on the left pane of the console
  • Select "general" tab
  • On the right hand side pane look for the option "active slots"
  • Change the slot to 23 on the active slots drop down menu
  • Click on apply selections
  • Reboot the robotic library
  • Reboot the backup exec servcies
  • Found the last 23rd slot listed under devices tab

Thanks

Check web console of the library, I guess the I/O slot and Cleaning slot are disabled

I/O slot is never shown in Backup Exec at all. It is just for Library to use it for inserting and removing the tapes.

Yes. Cleaning slot will be seen in Backup Exec if it is configured as Active.

Thanks,
