Backups Failing on 10d - massive sizes!

Paul_Defiglio

Hi all

We run a daily differential that until a few days ago was backing up about 8GB
A few days ago this went up to 56GB then 61GB (I must admit I didnt check the sizes, I just saw they were successful and ignored it)

Then 2 days ago the job failed as it was waiting for more media.
I inserted another tape and it filled that as well.
I've checked the directories it should be backing up and they are fine size wise.

I've run a few test jobs and they are failing as well.
The first test failed with a byte size of 733GB
I then recreated a new job and ran a test on that and it's failed with a byte size of over 1TB
Just tested again and failing on about 733GB
These jobs have been running fine for months and months.

What on earth is going on???

Chekc what is happening with your archive bites on your file system - if 3rd party software is setting them incorrectly then the differential will backup more data.

Have close look on the selection you have made..Something would be worong in selection for the the type of backup job

As the differential backup job would run form last full backup check if the full back up was successful as well .

Do you have some error msg about test jobs failed ?

Thanks both.

The job is for 3 directories on 3 different servers.

I have split the job up into 3 new ones.

2 of them tested successfully, one failed with a byte size of 732GB

So it's something to do with this one directory/server.

Colin, what do you mean by archive bytes?

The directory in question is robocopied twice a day to another server.

I have tried the backup test on that and it's successful.

The full backup test has failed now as well.
