Backups are extremely slow suddenly

Hello everyone,

Last week, all of a sudden my backups went from a rate of 862MB/min to 150MB/min and are now running around 150MB/min.. They had been running at 800MB+ for quite some time now.

Im running BackupExec 11d Rev7170 with Hotfixes 1,3,4, and 5 on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2

Any help please?

Thank you and Regards,

David

Have you checked the servers (backup server and target server) for rouge processes hogging all your processor / memory etc? Maybe you have a virus or something?

Maybe a fellow IT colleague has added some extra files to the target server without your knowledge? Small files (like log files) really slow down the backup process.

Hope this helps!

No one has modified the backup policies and there are no new files being backed up, especially anything to cause such a great difference in speed. I will attempt to reboot the fileserver at lunch today. Thanks for the reply.

This client have suddenly droped to 50 MB/s (No changes done). All the others klient is working fine.
Have tested to copy files to and from the client > Working fine
Checked the networkcard / switches for error > OK
Disabled antivirus
Disabled AOF

Running w2k3 SP2 on backup server and all clients.
