Backups very slow

A small organisation with a workgroup, pending integration into Windows Server network. Interim solution running Backup exec on a Win XP Pro worklstationwith Sony drive attached, via Adaptec SCSI card.

It has been fine until recently when it started to fial to recognise tapes, without going through 'label media' process before running backup. Now backup is sooo slow, e.g after 1 hour it has backup up less than 200Mb.

Any ideas, please?

Dlord,

The firstthing that I would do is make sure you have the latest drivers from Adaptec for the scsi card. The native Windows drivers are not very good. I have seen throughput increase significantly after updating these drivers.
