Best practice for DR with Backup Exec

Good Day IHAC who has Physical Windows servers with DAS storage, that wants to use Cloud service provider for DR.They have 12 servers with about 3.5TB of data

They wish to backup their data in their DC, and then replicate the data to DR Cloud provider overnight. 

In the case of a DR,or DR test, they wish to startup Virtulised servers in the Cloud from their data recovered into the Cloud storage.

Can anyone please advise the Best practices for this with BUE?

Can we put in a BUE server in Production site, backup the data, and then efficently replicate this to a DR Site. After that the data would have to be recovered as Virtual server data to be used by VMs provided by the Cloud service provider.

Is there a White Paper on this?

Do any of you have refernce clients that do this today?

Hello Brian,

    Recently Backup Exec has been added in both the Azure & AWS marketplace to be deployed in the respective Cloud.

You can configure a physical server On-Prem and install Backup Exec on the same. You may want to refer to this document "https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000033913" about configuring & managing CASO environemnt. Then on the cloud (Azure or AWS) you can deploy Backup Exec VM from the marketplace and configure the same as MMS server. Here is more information on the Backup Exec deployment in Cloud:

Take all your backups to Deduplication folder on the CAS and then perform Opdupe to the MMS. Here more information about Dedupe & Optdupe:
