CPS + Exchange Error

Dave_Hildebrand
Level 3
Setup:
BE Server - Win2k3 w/ BE11d and CPS installed fully updated
Exchange - Win2k3 w/ remote agent and CPS agent pushed out to it.

When enabling continuous back of transaction logs I get the following error:

Error code 0xe01f000d was returned from the Backup Exec CPS application when creating the CPS job. Make sure that Backup Exec CPS is installed and configured correctly. Check the Backup Exec CPS console for more information about the error. Using an IP address to specify an Exchange server is not supported.

Ideas?

Make sure your DNS settings are correct. When you pushed the CPA agent to the Exchange server, if the Exchaneg Agent selection box is greyed out it means your DNS is not correctly setup. This can generate the error you mention.

Of course, also verify that all the services are runnign and that the servers were rebooted after the install finished.

I was getting the same error message up till about 5 minutes ago.

We have a dedicated BackupExec/CPS server separate to the Exchange Server as described in the CPS Manuals.

I restarted the "CPS Broker Service" on the destination CPS server, and then the disk backup CPS job for Exchange worked.

Hope this advise helps.
