Can not install 2003 ESM on Win 2008 for Backup Exec 2010

I am not able to use my new install of Backup Exec 2010 R2 on a Win 2008 server to backup an Exchange 2003 database on another network server,  because 2003 ESM will not install on Win 2008.  Do I have any other options to backup my Exchange 2003 from my Win 2008 install?  Thanks.

Exchange 2003 ESM on Win 2008 for Backup Exec 2010 R2 is not a requirement. Please check http://clientui-kb.symantec.com/resources/sites/BUSINESS/content/staging/TECHNICAL_SOLUTION/137000/T... for the compatibility list for Backup Exec 2010 and Backup Exec 2010 R2.

The requirement of installing Exchange Management console on the Media server is only if you are backing Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010.
