Cannot Install Version 10 from cd on SBS 2003

I am having trouble installing version 10 of BEW on Small Business Server 2003.

Error log outputs this at the end

And I've gone through the suggested steps to correct this including installing the MSDE by itself from the CD. This fails sliently and no directory is created.

I follow most of the steps there and still no success. On a side note one of the exicutables listed in the steps

If the error occurred on ODBC:
1. Browse to the Winnt\Install\BE\SQL directory of either the CD or downloaded installation files
2. Execute sqlredis.exe

this directory doesnt exist on the version 10 install cd.

I can only assume this step would fix the problem if I could activate it/the directory they were talking about existed.

I'm downloading the latest install files from the server in the hopes that will work.

Any help or suggestions would be good.

Please check in MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log file exact error and whether "return value 3" is generated ?

Paste the exact error message from that log file !

We would also like to know whether you are upgrading it from backup exec version 8.x or 9.x Or is this a fresh installation ?

Backup Exec installation fails with the error: "Failed to install MSDE 2000 BKUPEXEC instance. Please review C:\WINDOWS\MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log for more details. Failed to install third party products."
