Changing back to MSDE from SQL 2000

Installed SQL 2000 SP3 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 running BE10d 10.1 Rev. 5629. SQL is needed for docuement management system. BE DB automatically switched over to SQL from MSDE 8.00.2039.

180 GB backup which previously took 3.5 hours to run is now running at 7+ hours since SQL 2000 install. Backup size has stayed constant, but backup time is still over 7+ hours.

Any thoughts?

Also, MSDE is still installed on server. Could that be the issue? How do I go about switching BE to backup using MSDE instead of SQL server, without uninstalling SQL server? I've found several posts on going from MSDE to SQL but the other way.

Finally question, which might not be right for this forum, can MSDE and SQL server co-exist peacefully on the same server?

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

-- Where did you come to know from that BE DB automatically switched over to SQL from MSDE?

-- Is the MSSQL$BKUPEXEC Service running under local system account?

Thank You,

Shweta
