Hi

I am having problems with Failed backups although all the data looks like it has been backed up. This only started happening after adding users Exchange StoreInbox's

I have pasted the error message below. In the exception I get what looks like a string of chinese characters.

Is this a permission problem. Do I need to give the account backup exec runs under permission on the users exchange boxes?

Your help be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Andy

As far as I know the backupexec account needs to be a member of the 'domain admins' group. That way you don't have to edit the security settings on every file/mailbox.

Hello,

Create a new unique user account (e.g. VERITAS) which has Domain Admin
and Local Admin rights on the BE Media Server. Make this account as the
Backup Exec Service Account (BESA). Change the username and password of the
Backup Exec services in the Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
to the newly created BESA.

2) Create a mailbox on the Exchange server which belongs to the BESA.
Verify that this mailbox is seen and not hidden in the Global Address List.

3) Activate the mailbox and send some test mails to the mailbox of BESA.
Verify that the mailbox has some mails in it.

4) Configure the BESA account to have full Exchange rights. Refer the
technote for more information.

Title : How to configure the Backup Exec service account to have sufficient
rights to connect to an Exchange 2000 server.

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/234575.htm

5) Log on using the BESA on the BE Media server and when prompted for the
for a unique mailbox enter the BESA username.

Thank You,

Shweta....
