Continuous Failed backup's

I have a 9.1 B-Exec Win2k server that continuously fails to backup.

The symptoms "this time" are as follows:

The backup dies at the +/- 15gig mark and when I look at the log, it tells me that the Job Engine service failed to respond. I made 100% sure that ALL services were started and running before I started the backup.

Could you post the job log (the secion that shows where it's failing)? Also, look at the Windows logs to see if there is another error in there and post it.

For the job log not opening, I suggest you the following

1. Update to Internet Explorer with latest version and service pack available.

2. Update to MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (Microsoft XML Core Services). Refer to the following URL to download the service pack.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3144b72b-b4f2-46da-b4b6-c5d7485f2b42&DisplayLang=en

If the issue still persists, download and install service pack 1 for Backup Exec v9.1 onto the media server.

Further, for the Job Engine terminating during the backup

You may also apply MDAC v2.8 and also install Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8. Stop all third party applications and services first then apply MDAC

You may also try to repair the database using "BEUtility". Refer to following technote for the same

http://support.veritas.com/docs/265180

Ensure that BESA (Backup Exec Service Account) is memeber of "Domain Administrators" and "Adminsitrators" group.
The MSSQL$BACKUPEXEC service is running
