Crashed Exchange 2000 on 2000 DC

Hi.

I have (had) a server that was both DC and Exchange 2000 server. The server crashed today due to HW failure and tomorrow morning I will start to restore the server. All the FSMO roles were moved to another DC a few weeks ago so thats okay. The server were backed up with BE 9.1 thru the exchange agent, system state were selected and IS, PF and mailboxes and also the exchsrvr directory and the winnt and so forth.

Now, should I install windows 2000 server (with the same name as before) and the remote agent and then restore system state first. And when thats complete restore all the files and restore IS and mailboxes last? Or is there another path to choose?

Thanx in advance

Best regards

Peter

Hi,

Yes, your basically have the idea downpat.

If you restore the Information Store however, you will not then need to restore any individual mailboxes.
