Hi

Recyclable Media:-
It is nothing but a Allocated Media that is part of a User Media Set and has had its overwrite retention period expire.
The media is available for overwrite operations or append operations (append operations are only possible if the "Append Period" still allows the media to be appended to).
The media will be displayed in blue under the User Media Set.

For more details kindly refer the following technical notes:-

Hello,
When media is allocated to a media set it will have the overwrite protection period and append period set on this particular media set.

Once the overwrite protection period expires, the Allocated media becomes Recyclable media.
It can then be used for an overwrite operation. Depending on the level of protection selected, either recyclable or scratch media will be overwritten first.
Please refer to the technotes mentioned in the earlier thread for further clarification.

Hello,

After installing backup exec you have an option to create backup to disk folders. After this when a backup is done to a backup to disk folder it creates media which are allocated to the media set which is selected in the backup job properties.

The allocated and scratch media is as explained earlier.

Document ID: 255039 provided needed help. As indicated in that doc I needed to run a number of small test jobs which created the media.

Hello,

The technote :255039 describes that a test job will fail due to the two criteria: * Media capacity check and media check. untill amedia has not been created in the backup to disk folder.

Either:
1. Run a small backup jjob the only purpose of which will be to create a media in the specified backup to disk folder.
OR
2. Uncheck the above mentioned two options in the test job so that the test job does not fail.
OR what I would suggest as another option is:
3. You may also run the backup job wihtout running a test for the same. It will create a media in the destination backup to disk folder.

Depending on the media set selected for the backup the media will be allocated to it and inherit the OPP and AP of the media set defined in the backup job properties.
