DLT to LTO3 Tape to Tape

We currently are going through a redesign on our tape backup environment. We are planning on moving from DLT to LTO3. I am wanting to know if there is a way to copy the data from the DLT tape to an LTO3 tape, or do I need to restore this data into a filesystem and then backup that data that has just been restored. I would like to, if possible, to copy the DLT tape directly to the LTO3 tape. We are using backupexec and I am fairly new to BackupExec.
