Hello,
Following a drive corruption, very few of the *.bin and *.bhd files in our deduplication drive dissapeared - and now the whole deduplication folder is offline, in 'undiscovered' state. I tried deleting and recreating it - that just removed it without being able to recreate it at all. The BackupExec deduplication Engine service refuses to start, and in the Spoold.log file we have entried like these:
June 04 05:34:36 ERR [0000000000DE9400]: 25002: _storeCheckContainers: container data file E:\DD_Files\data/70007.bin is missing
June 04 05:34:36 ERR [0000000000DE9400]: -1: _storeCheckContainers: container index file E:\DD_Files\data/72948.bhd is missing.
June 04 05:34:36 ERR [0000000000DE9400]: 25002: _storeCheckContainers: container data file E:\DD_Files\data/72948.bin is missing
June 04 05:34:36 ERR [0000000000DE9400]: 25002: Could not initialize DataStore Manager
June 04 05:34:38 ERR [0000000000DE9400]: 26016: Store Manager: Activate failure.
Does anyone have a utility that could fix this?

I think you would have to delete the dedup folder and re-create it.

As I mentioned in my message, I did try to delete it - that worked fine - but re-creating it with the same path as before did not.
I sure hope it doesn't mean that we lose all the data in it, just because of a few corrupted files.

I would suggest that you log a formal support case with Symantec and ask them to help you repair your dedup folder.

I did - but past experience has not been very positive. I know there is some sort of magical software that can fix the dedup folder (recoverCR ?? or another..) but for some reason it is a well kept secret instead of being a tool downloadable from the support site.
Does anyone have any experience with this software - did it help fix the issue and was it easy/fast to use?

Open a case, and ask for a duty manager immediately to escalate.
