After deleting an account in AD the user mailbox can not be backed up and the job ends in a failed state. I understand why this happens. Is there a way to configure BackupExec to simply not fail the job on these errors. The listed options are not practical as users are constantly coming and going.

Hello,

As mentioned in the technote there are only 4 ways to currently resolve this issue.

1. The first option is to change the retention period

2. Remove the mailbox from exchange

3. The third option is to associate the mailbox with another user inside Active Directory

4. The fourth option is to deselect the mailbox for backup inside the Backup Exec backup job operation Selection List.

Thanks,

Thanks. The first three options all defeat the purpose of having the retention period in the first place. The fourth option is difficult to manage.

Does Symantec have any plan of changing the way BackupExec handles this condition? It should at least give the option to not fail the job when this occurs.

Hello,
For the moment it would be wise to exclude that particualr mailbox from the selection list. You may lodge an enhancement request for the same at http://enhancement.veritas.com.
