Eject Drive Job won't delete

Robert_Brooks

I was working outside the office and tried to eject the tape from my DLT drive. I did this by right click on my DLT drive under Devices and selected Eject. The drive never ejected the tape and ultimately I exited BE and stopped / restarted all BE services. The job remained in the queue and now I can't delete it. I can tell it to delete but it won't go away. Any ideas?

Action taken:
Stopped/Started BE Services
Rebooted

Currently I've placed the job on Hold so that it won't interfere with my backup job.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,

As a preliminary step, make sure that you have updated Backup Exec v9.0 to Backup Exec v9.1. It addresses many issues and enhancements from an earlier versions and Build of Backup Exec v9.0. Refer the following technotes:

Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691.1 (Single .ZIP download)

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm

Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers General Information

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/262414.htm

Note:

1. BEWS 9.1 is a free downloadable upgrade inclusive of previously installed agents and options from Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers agents and options.

2. Update all agents/options on all remote systems.

========================================

Before proceeding further, kindly verify that the Tape Device is supported and listed in the Hardware compatibility list for Backup Exec 9.1

http://support.veritas.com/dsl/lists/device_ddProduct_BEWNT_media_all_prod1_NT9.htm

-If it is not listed then kindly apply the OEM drivers from the link given below,

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/253974.htm

-If it is listed then install and apply the latest Veritas drivers from the following link,

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273853.htm

We suggest you to disable the Removable storage service as mentioned in the technote below,

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/231679.htm

====================================
ONce you have installed the latest Veritas drivers and the Tape device is shown correctly in the tape device we suggest you to perform an inventory on the Tape media.Then run a backup job and check the results.

We hope this resolves your query.Feel free to revert back for any additional queries.

I've updated to 9.1 and run the update for the tape drivers.

Result: Successful update to 9.1 and success update of tape drivers. However, I still have this eject job in the job monitor which I cannot delete.

Removable storage was already set to manual and not running. I disabled the service as a precaution.

This is still an open issue. Even after all the above steps it still cannot be deleted.
