Error 1067: The Process Terminated Unexpectedly.

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

Software: Backup Exec 2010

-----

Originally we just had 1 DC that did everything (DC, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, File Server). Backup Exec was installed to backup everything onto tape drives and had been working great for 5 years. We installed a new DC to take over everything except Exchange which went smoothly. Within Symantec Backup Exec 2010, I changed the job to include the network location of the shared folders that were now located on the new server. Tested the job and everything worked. I let the job run over the weekend and typically it would only take ~10 hours to back it all up, came in monday and it was still running (Friday to Monday and still not done backing up). I paused the job and then canceled it so I could remove the network location from the job - all of that went just fine. Closed Backup Exec 2010 and reopened it, now the Backup Exec 2010 Server service won't start due to "Error 1067: The Process Terminated Unexpectedly."

I have..
rebooted - no change
Tried starting the service in services.msc - same error
Tried refreshing permissions - no change
Tried creating new admin user - no change
checked policies (from directions on this site) - they were all correct
restarted all services - same error

Any other suggestions?

Hello XdAdmin,

Please check the Windows Event viewer and let us know the error/events logged there during starting of the service.

Try to provide all the errors.

Are you on the latest SP level. I can see a similar issue resolved in SP2..... SP3 is already available for BE 2010 R3
