Error Reported: The Semaphore timeout period has expired

I am using Backup Exec Version 8.5 Revision 3572 to back up my data every night on a brand new External Dell Tape Drive, for the last three nights I have recieved an error telling me: "Error Reported: The semaphore timeout period has expired" It seems like the backup should be successful because the log lets me know that the backup was completed and verified, however under the status tab it is listed as failed, and the percent completed tab lists unknown. So far I dont have a single successful backup on this drive my guess is because of this error, if someone could let me know what the problem might be I would appreciate it.

I came across your error message you had posted on the web site. I currently have the same message also and wondered if you had fonud a solution or can give me any pointers that may help resolve the matter.
