Error on stand-alone AIT tape drive: "Ready; No idle devices are available"

Hello all, this is my first post for help so I'm hoping that you can all give me a hand here.

We have Backup Exec 10d running on a Win2003 server with a single Sony AIT tape drive connected via SCSI. Everything was running very well for months but a problem has occured since the last server reboot.

We shutdown the server and unplugged the drive.
We plugged the server back in and turned it on without the drive connected
We shutdown the server again and connected the drive
We turned the server on again.

Now all my jobs, either scheduled or newly created, are failing with the message "Ready; No idle devices are available"

The other strange thing is that when I first open Backup Exec after the reboot and look under DEVICES my Sony tape drive was showing as OFFLINE. I was able to right-click and switch it to ONLINE with no problems but the backups still fail after I do that.

I've never seen this message before and we've made no configuration changes on the server so I'm totally stumped! The only articles I've seen on this error have to do with tape libraries and we don't have one, just the stand-alone drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
