Errors when attempting duplicate job

Jake_McNutt

We have a duplicate job that writes the backup to tape after the B2D folder is written.

We've just recently installed BE version 10 on our NAS, and these tapes haven't been used yet. The first 2 weeks of tapes worked fine, but we're having a problem with this week for some reason.

The error says, "unable to determine ADAMM media identification. Catalog query failed."

I have inventoried the tape, relabled it, and then catalogued it. When the duplicate job fails, I have to relabel the tape, and then go do a manual duplicate job to write the backup to the tape.

I'm sure there's something that I'm not doing right, and it's probably an easy fix. I called Veritas support 3 days ago, and they still haven't called me back.

Thanks for your time,
Jake

Hi Jake,

You should:

- Make sure you're using BE 10.0 5520 + SP1
- Move your catalogs to another drive
- Create new duplicate backup job
- Make sure you specify correct source/destination device (always specify tape drive, not library)
- Check your default overwrite protection period settings

Hope this helps

Sam

Thanks for the reply, Sam.

How would I go about moving the catalogs to another drive? And why should I do that?
