Event ID 57348 Database Maintenance Failure

John_Goodby
Not applicable
Started getting this error message a few days ago in event viewer. It basically says that the description for Event ID 57348 cannot be found in Backup Exec. It says that it is part of the event: Backup Exec Alert: Database Maintenance Failure. I have checked the settings for DB Maintenance and everything appears OK. Can't seem to be able to find anything on the knowledge base. Does anyone have any idea as to what to do or what is the cause. I am running Backup Exec 9.1 on Windows 2003 SBS.

Thanks in advance, John

Hello John,
Try doing the following:

1. Change the scheduled time of Backup Exec database Maintenance.
Go to Tools | Options | Settings | Database Maintenance. Default time is
4:00 AM . You may change this time other than the time schedule for backup
and verify the result.

2. Check the database consistency. From the path \program
files\Veritas\Backup Exec\NT run the BEUTility file. Add the Backup Exec
server and then run the Database task to perform "Check Database
Consistency" and note the status.

Hope this helps you. Please let us know the Status.

I get the same thing, when I run BEUTility, I get:

Starting database utility operation.
Performing database consistency check for BEDB database.
Performing database consistency check for BE_DLO database.
Error: The check of the database failed.
Database utility for server NAS01 ended with errors.

Hello,

Go to Beutility and select the option recover database and then select the third option drop existing database and reload from base to start with a new databse.

Note : In this case you would loose all you mediasets and logon account configuration.
