Exabyte VXA172 and BE v 10.0 eject tape notification

I currently have BE v 10.0 running on Windows Server 2003 and an External Exabyte Tape Back up Drive running through an Adaptec SCSI card (29160) and I have a backup job running nightly that it is set to eject when finished, but when I return the following morning the tape is ejected and the job is stuck at 99%. There is an popup notification telling me to eject tape and then push ok. Upon just ckicking ok the job shows as completed. Why doesn't backup exec see that the tape is ejected even thought the command has been given and the tape is actually ejected?

You can configure Backup Exec to automatically respond to media alerts by following this technote:

I am currently running BE ver 10.0 Rev. 5484 on a windows server 2003 system backing up nightly to a Exabyte external tape backup which is connected via SCSI card(Adaptec 29160).
I have downloaded service pack 4 and installed.

I have also gone to Configure Alert catagories and set the automatic response to the media remove to automatically clear after 5 minutes with a yes response. My nightly backup pauses at 99% completed as the job is set to eject tape when done. The external tape backup does in fact eject tape but the server does not see it as such.

Alert Responses seems to be very flakey in v10, especially the OK response to the "Remove Tape" alert.

there have been multiple threads about this, but veritas/symantec seem to be unable to provide any response

Does the popup notification not dissappear when u set the automatic response to the media remove?

You can try and upgrade to 10d:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/279332
And install the latest drivers:

I have already downloaded the latest drivers and upgraded to version 10d and also attempted to set the auto reply to the warning but the job still hangs up at 99%. I guess that at some point Symantec/Veritas will have a driver that will take care of the problem.

Hello,

From the below link please install SP1 for 10d. You would also require to reinstall remote agent on remote machines

(title) Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10.1 (10d) for Windows Servers revision 5629 - Service Pack 1 - Includes Critical Security Updates

http://support.veritas.com/docs/282818

Thanks

Hi Glen:

Just wondering if you ever got the eject tape notification issue resolved? I am having the same problem you did, and since the thread ends, I don't know if you got it resolved or not. If you found a solution, I would be most interested.

Thanks
