Exchange 2003 mailbox backup hangs

When doing the mailbox backup on Exchange 2003, at the last mailbox backup, the job hangs. When I try to cancel the job, it goes into 'cancel pending' forever. I have no option but to restart the services. Upon restart, I must catalog the job, and this error appears
: Backup Media ErrorsError
: a00084ca - The data being read from the media is inconsistent.

What does this mean? I am doing a disk backup, so it can't be bad media . It's not the mailboxes, it always happens at the last oneMessage was edited by:

This is a know issue. Im assuming your running 9.1 Apply SP3 and re-push the agent to the exchange server. Take a look at hotfix 47 and the registry change in the technote
