Hello,

I have two questions about BE11d.

1) When I backup from Exchange 2007 data to LTO tape device, I found below error message.
"V-79-57344-33928 Access denied. "

However, When I backup from Exchange 2007 data to shared disk, I could backup data.
but, depend on many time (30MB/min, backupdata is only 12MB)
Also, depend on many time for snapshot (It's about 30 min)

Of course, backup is success to both device for normal file

2)Do I need below software for basically Exchnage 2007 data backup?
Backup Exec 11d (Build7170)
SQL 2005 Express or SQL 2005 Server.
Exchange Agent
Exchange 2007 administration tool
CDO/MAPI Client package

Please advise me.

Tomba,

Backup to tape uses MAPI, as Backup to Disk does not.
When you restore from disk is when Mapi comes into play.

Best test is to enable the legacy backups and attempt to backup the mailboxes.
If you can not do that, it is a permissions problem or a MAPI issue.

You also want to ensure that the account you are using has a mailbox in the 2007 store if you are running mixed mode.

Hope this helps.

Hello Patty,

Thank you for your advise.
When I set mailbox for BE11d administrator, I could backup to Tape.
However backup job is very slow.(240-300MB/MIN)
Is there a method of solving this phenomenon?
I'm using HP DL380G5 and LTO Tape device as backuptest.

I have another question.
When Exchange data get snapshot during BE11d running, Where is the data stored?

Thanks and Regards,

Hello,

I report other test for Exchange 2007 backup.
When I test 400GB data backup to LTO Drive, It's result 1000MB/min.
Is this phenomenon depend on data size?
The speed has quickened when the data size grows in my result.
However, Exchange data spends for 20 minutes while processing the snapshot.
Is there a method of shortening this processing?
Please advise me.

Thanks and Regards,

Tomba,

Unfortunately no, there is no way to reduce the snapshot processing.

What is occurring is Backup Exec sends the request for backup to the Exchange Server, VSS then does the work.

Hello Patty,

Thanks again for your reply.
I have another quesiton about this.
Does this process depend on the number of storage groups?
Does this process seach for all storage group on Exchange 2007?

Thanks and Regards,

Tomba

Tomba,

It will enumerate all stores.

Does that answer your question?
