Exchange Public Folders - Restore individual item

Using BE 10.0 and Exchange 2003 SP2

We back up both the public folder store, and individual items in those public folders. Now we need to restore several items in one public folder (the folder itself is still there, someone accidentally deleted some of the contents). Can you just create a restore job, drill down and select those items in the backup set and run it? Does the store have to be dismounted? Or do we have to go with a recovery server, etc.?

Basically, I just want to know what the restore proceedure is for an item in a public folder, from a brick level backup. Not really covered in the documentation.
