Exchange backup throughput very slow

I've just installed Backup Exec 11d for SBS on a client's server and am running it for the first time, after downloading the hotfixes applicable to the product.

The backup of the First Storage Group on the local exchange server is very slow, only 20Mb\min. I'd expect at least a throughput in the hundreds of Mb\min area.

Is there a reason for the very slow throughput?

It's been running for 12 hours now and not even got to the users folders and shares yet, which is no good when I used to have an NT backup run in less than 2 hours!

Just checked it again and the backup is now doing the users shares and folders but is still only doing 20MB\min.

Does anyone have any ideas at all/???

Thanks

Colin

Is this a local backup or a network backup?

Backup to disk or tape? if tape, is the tape drive on it's own controller (or at the very least, it's own channel on a non-RAID controller)

I'm having terrible throughput also, on a B2D folder.

How badly fragmented is the Hard Drive?

Local or NAS share?

SCSI/IDE/USB/Firewire?

We are having very bad throughput also.    Media server is x86 at 7101 Service pack 1 and remote servers that are being backup are at 7101.11 for the remote agent.
