Excludes Selection List won't open

We recently noticed that our backups weren't backing up SQL .mdf and .ldf files (to avoid cross posting, I've posted another thread on this). We decided to take a look at the Excludes Selection list, in case an exception had been added by mistake.

However, when we try and open the Excludes Selection List it opens a dialog box that states We've tried the system account password and all other combinations of passwords; but we just can't get into it. If we click on OK, BE attempts to open the Selection List window and then displays the dialog message . We cannot delete the Excludes Selection List as it is not appearing in the Delete Selection List window.

We have tried re-starting all BE Services, checking, repairing and compacting the MSDE database (via BEUtility.exe) but still can't get into the Excludes Selection list. We have deleted any current jobs, in case they were tying up the Excludes Selection list, but still no joy.

Any ideas please? Can't find any reference to a similar problem in KB or forums?

TIA,

Ade

Have you tried entering the Password associated with the BackupExec service account?

Is the user that you are logged in with an Admin Account on the media server?

Thanks for your reply.

We've tried the BE Service password, all local and domain admin passwords, and various other combinations, including blank - none of them work.

Interesting to note that when you enter a password in the dialog, the confirm password field remains greyed out?

Any updates appreciated?

TIA,

Ade

Does anyone think that a re-install/repair might solve this problem? Its a long time since I ran the setup.exe, is their a repair option?

Thanks,

Ade

Thanks to all those that responded to this thread.

We are still unable to access our Excludes list, but have by-passed the need to see the Excludes list (by manupulating our jobs to flatfile backup SQL databases and logs in another way - detailed in another post).

Regards,

Ade
