About 1 1/2 weeks ago our backup started failing. Before that time it was working successfully. Backing up to from 386 GB to 425 GB of data. We have a Dell PowerEdge 2600 with a HP StorageWorks Ultrium using a Ultrium LTO 3 800GB tape. The errors started happening.
1.) I/O device error (0X0045d) or (45d)
2.) Tape is ejected out - Backup exec is requesting another tape.
3.) Backup is still running (over 11 hrs).
Our data has not grown is still in the 425 GB. The backup starts @9:00 pm so I see the errors the next day. But when I run the backup in the morning, the only error I get is tape is ejected. But when I insert another tape
it completes the job. Why is it asking for another tape when the tape is a LTO3 - 800 GB.
Why do I get an I/O error but when I ran it in the morning I do not get that error?
Thanks for the help.
