Can file compression be turned off for a drive during backup?

Whether to compress or not is set in the Job Description. Once the job starts, nothing about it can be changed for that run.

Ken is absolutely correct. You can only turn off the Compression prior to running a job. You can either choose "none" in the compresson decription under job properties or permanently disable it from device properties--under configuration tab.
