Got "Media is unrecognized" message on Backup exec 10.0

Hello,

I have one Backup exec 10.0 in my server. When I insert some tape into the backup device, I got "Media is unrecognized" message but for another tapes, the program can run the job properly.

I try to fix the problem tape but the program don't let me do the "Long ease" "quick ease" or "Label Media" button in the "device" tab" (the tape is still being inserted into the device)

Is the tape compatible with the tape drive ?

For egs, if the tape drive is LTO2, it would be not be able to read LTO3 and higher tapes.

...is this for a specific tape in BE, or all tapes?

If it is a specific tape, then it might actually be bad. 1 thing to do is to download your tape drive manufacturer's diagnostic utility, and then stop the BE services. Once done, run a diagnostic check against the drive to rule out hardware issues. If none, try an erase of the tape in question.
