Gutten tag Stefan (my German is not good),

I had a couple of issues with my install of BE 2010 on server 2003 platform.

First was that Windows Removable Storage manager was claiming posession (my wording) of the tapes - I had to disable the service.

Second was my tape library. It has two LTO4 drives. These drives will read older tapes, but they will not write to tapes more than one version out: i.e. the LTO4 drive will write to an LTO3 tape, but not an LTO2.

Hope you find something helpful in this post.

Hi Stefan,

I branched this into its own discussion.

Windows's RSM service does clash with BE's handling of the drives so what you did is correct.

With regards to your second issue, an LTO4 drive will read LTO4 and LTO3 and LTo2 tapes for example, but only write to LTO3 and LTO4. This is by design, and not a Symantec issue.

You won't be able to write to those LTO2 tapes of yo8urs unfortunately.

Thanks!
