HP StorageWorks 72x10 - Be10.1 sp1 - No Available Media Server

Hi All,
We have just changed tape drives on one of our BE servers from an internal HP 72x6 to an external HP 72x10 autoloader. The issue seems to be trying to get the autoloader and tape drive to co-operate within BE. 10.1 sp1 is installed with the latest driver pack and all hotfixes (fresh install to different drive in case it was an issue relating to the old install. It detects the autoloader and its 10 slots fine, it detects the DAT72 drive, and then manually it gets dragged to the unknown drive, within the autoloader.
The problem is BE sits with a status of No Media Servers are available. It is also not possible to restart the Device and Media Service (it never successfully stops). To remove and re-install I have to disable the service and reboot.

I have tried with the HP drivers as well as the BE drivers and it seems to make no difference at all.

Any Help would be appreciated.

cheers
Craig....

Hello,

Please check, whether the device that you are using is there in our Hardware Compatibility List.
Kindly refer the following document for the same:

Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers (tm) 10d (10.1) Hardware Compatibility List. Includes HCL information for supported drives, libraries, virtual tape devices, fibre-channel HBAs, switches, routers/bridges, and iSCSI components. For printing purposes, the latest version of Acrobat is recommended

Hello,

Are you getting event id's 7,9,11 or 15?

Hello,

Make sure that the following things are in place:

- the device should not be connected to a RAID controller, that is not supported by BE. If it is, you can connect it to its own standard SCSI controller
- Make sure the device firmware, SCSI controller card drivers etc..are up to date

Are there any errors related to the device in the event logs? Revert if the issue persists.
