Hi folks. Just bought an HP LTO 1/8 Autoloader. Running BE 9.0 on Win2K Server. Just wondering if I need an autoloader module for this device? Searching thru Veritas for info is very cumbersome at best.

Anyone have experiece with this device with BE 9.x?

Thanks.

In view of the query put forward, we would like to explain you in best possible way.

From the mail, we have noted that you are currently using Backup Exec v9.0, we would request you kindly upgrade the same to Backup Exec v9.1 Please make sure that you have updated Backup Exec v9.0 to Backup Exec v9.1. It addresses many issues and enhancements from an earlier versions and Build of Backup Exec v9.0. Refer the following technotes:

Here's are the technote link which will help you download and install Backup Exec v9.1, kindly carry out the installation and let us know if you face any problems and revert back with the logs so that we can help you troubleshoot .
Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691.1 (Single .ZIP download) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/264658.htm

Extract the downloads on the local machine on which Backup Exec is to be installed and check the results
Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers General Information http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/262414.htm

Note: 1. BEWS 9.1 is a free downloadable upgrade inclusive of previously installed agents and options from Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers agents and options.

2. Update all agents/options on all remote systems because the remote agent software component, which gets installed on the remote system, is different for both the versions of Backup Exec v9.0 and v9.1.

Upgrading from 9.0 to 9.1 includes upgradation of the remote agents as well. You can upgrade the Remote Agents on top of the existing version. Or you can perform a fresh install i.e. uninstall and re-install the Remote Agent for Windows Server. Refer to the following technote for the same:

-------------------------------------------------------
Kindly cross check our compatibility list of Backup Exec v9.1 and please check for the tape device (HP Storageworks 1/8 LTO Autoloader ) from the link given below.

If the drive is supported then we would request you download latest tape drivers by referring this particular technote:-

Uninstall the existing device drivers and reinstall the latest Veritas drivers. Run tapeinst.exe to install Veritas driver.
"TAPEINST.EXE" is located in the directory x:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT (TAPEINST.EXE" is an automated installation application for installing tape device drivers )

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only)

Thanks for the link. I have not tried the steps above yet. Will put the device into a test machine first to make sure the kinks are taken care of first, then put into production.

Thank you for the notes.
